The Springfield Armory Kuna is a large-frame, semi-automatic pistol purpose-built for home defense, personal protection, and professional duty use. As Springfield’s latest entry into the pistol caliber carbine (PCC) space—offered in pistol form—the Kuna combines proven design elements from leading platforms into one versatile and affordable package. This model of the Kuna is the standard pistol configuration, without a brace. It features a monolithic upper receiver machined from forged 7075-T6 aluminum, paired with an injection-molded, glass-filled polymer lower for a lightweight yet highly durable construction. One of the standout features of the Kuna is its hybrid flip-up sight system. When folded, the sights offer a traditional Springfield-style U-notch rear and contrast front. When deployed, they convert to a peep-style rear with a hooded, adjustable front sight—providing excellent versatility for rapid or precision aiming. At the heart of the Kuna is a roller-delayed blowback action—a system inspired by H&K-style firearms—offering smoother operation, reduced recoil impulse, and enhanced reliability. The ambidextrous, non-reciprocating charging handle is currently configured on the left side but can easily be swapped to the right to suit user preference. The ergonomic pistol grip borrows design cues from Springfield’s Echelon and Hellcat lines, featuring adaptive texturing for a secure yet comfortable hold. Up front, a multi-port muzzle brake helps reduce muzzle rise and manage felt recoil, improving control during rapid fire.
